Detective Grimoire Continues

Posted by The-Super-Flash-Bros - February 7th, 2011

We've been working crazy-hard on our latest game, Detective Grimoire. Its the biggest project we've ever undertaken! I think we've gathered up every last voice actor now (Egoraptor and Josh Tomar amongst them, of course) and we have an amazing composer, too - Raphael Meyer

Hop on over to the Grimoire Blog to see some little videos and lots more images of characters, background art, menus, etc. I hope to have a proper Youtube trailer showing up pretty soon!

Oh God!

was that a good "Oh God!"? I hope so...

YEESSSS!!!
THANK YOU!!!

Oh! you're welcome
-Dim

Yes it was a good "Oh God!"

What a cute babe. :)

I kept changing her character design to make her "prettier". I'm a horrible person and I can never complain about sexualised females in cartoons ever again :/

Looking forward to it, man!
The art's looking cool

Thanks!

this looks fantastic! im glad theres going to be voicing in it! i loved the original so i am pumped to see this!

Yes I'm glad we're having real voices this time. Its a bit scary because there's so much dialogue, but I think we can handle it. We're going for Layton levels of charm.

Love the character design!

Thanks "RubberNinja" :D

I loved the first game! :D

Thanks!

Everyone has said it already, but I need to emphasize it. The art style is nothing short of gorgeous.

I loved the first one and I remember leaving a detailed 10 stars review on that, a long time ago. Hell, you even sent me a couple of e-mails talking about the development of this game, because I liked the first one so much. Heh.

And if you don't mind me asking, what tools do you focus mostly when drawing the characters? Are you actively using the brush tool, or just using basic shapes and tweaking them with the Selection Tool?
I'm asking this because the lines look really sharp.

Thanks!

The characters are designed on paper, but the final images are drawn mostly with the Brush tool. Sometimes I clean up the lines afterwards, occasionally I'll use the line tool if I really need it.

And Catherine draws the background art in Photoshop.

When I first started reading this, I kept thinking you were working on the FIRST Detective Grimoire game. Then I wondered how I played it already. Then I started to wonder how I because a time traveler without knowing it.

Aside from my stupidity, I can't wait to see the next installment. Art looks great and I definitely loved the first one!

Yeah we're not calling it "Detective Grimoire 2", which might be confusing, but I don't really consider it a sequel

I'm so excited for the new Detective Grimore!! I loved the first one, I saw that the animation for the new one is going to be completely different yet amazing, but I saw the clip on you blog and I love that there's more voice acting and the voices sound much more real than animated. I'm really looking forward to how this will turn out!!

Oh my...I CANT WAIT!!!
any idea about the releasing date?

:D
Excellent!
I can't wait to play it :)

Very nice stuff i believe your working on.
Your character desing has a lot of personality this time, at the point you could even reconize when a character is yours. And, hell! It looks so professional!

Your first game has a decent storyline, but in my opinion it lacked a bit of emocion, and the "Innocent - Guilty" system was quite dissaponting. All in all, though, it was a pretty good game, original comparing it to what normally flash games are. (You probably wont read my review on the game because there are lots of its, so yeah, sorry, im posting it here too. =P)

Well... Lets see what else to say... Oh, you dont really have to blame yourself for making her "prettier", since for the watchers its normal involving the "like" to the drawings. Ugly or not, if its well drawed it should be good enough, but it isnt..

Mm... Well, the voices its decent though i can hear a bit different Sally's voice with Grimoire's one, im not sure what it is though.
Em... The animation! I loved the animation! Its so smooth! But the again, its kind of distracting that the eyes arent that smooth and goes from one place to an other in an instant. Maybe adding two or one frames would help, but if its not, nevermind.

Just one thing, i like the first Grimoire game, and i think this game of the series will be as good or better, but im forced to critique the minor flaw i see just to let you know and, well, think about it?

And... I think thats everything, good luck with the project!! (And forgive my grammar mistakes, im actually spanish)

GREAT! I really enjoyed the first one, a clever game :) I'm looking forward to the next one.
Do you have all the voices you need, or are you still looking for voice actors? If you are, I would be interested in helping.

DECLINE OF VIDEO GAMING I WANT IT

Good idea...Getting a female character in the game makes a good sex appeal to all those pervs out there.

Believe me, this isn't over sexualized. It's cute if anything. You can complain about oversexualized characters if you still want too.

I can't wait for this to come out! :)
